Shorsalin (oxcarbazepine), is structurally a derivative of carbamazepine, adding an extra oxygen atom to the benzyl carboxamide group. It is partial seizures in epileptic children and adults. Shorsalin (oxcarbazepine), is indicated for the treatment of partial seizures with or without secondarily generalised tonic-clonic seizures. Also used as monotherapy or adjunctive therapy in adults and in children of 6 years of age and above.
